WPT to Air Concert From Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Door County

For More Information: Lynn Brockmeyer, WPT publicist, 608-263-3364, [email protected] Deb Piper, WPT producer, 608-263-4222, [email protected] at Birch Creek, a new Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) special taped at Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Egg Harbor, offers viewers an enjoyable evening of big band jazz performed by Birch Creek student bands and the Birch Creek Academy Jazz Orchestra.   Jazz at Birch Creek airs 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30 on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT). The program also airs 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 on The Wisconsin Channel, a WPT digital channel, and will be live simulcast on the Web. During the broadcast, the program may be accessed by choosing "Wisconsin Channel" under the Wisconsin tab at wpt.org. Birch Creek Music Performance Center is a summer music school for advanced young musicians from across the country. Students are taught by nationally known performers and educators during the day, and perform alongside them in concerts at night. Birch Creek's mission is to provide their students with significant performance experience in front of live audiences. Wisconsin students featured in the program are: Appleton residents Gabe Peterson on alto saxophone and Tom Kelley on bass and trombone, Sun Prairie residents Mason Lee on drums and Kyra Silbernagel on piano, Tim Ekenberg of Mount Horeb on trumpet, Michael Hoot of Middleton on alto saxophone, Ray Simpson of Milwaukee on piano, and Jordon Rattner of Brown Deer on guitar. Alto saxophone faculty member David Bixler was born and raised in Racine. Jazz at Birch Creek is made possible with gifts to the WPT Venture Forward Campaign from John L.
