WPT and WPR Take Wisconsin Vote Broadcasts On the Road
As part of ongoing comprehensive election news coverage this fall, Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) and Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) will take their WisconsinVote.org coverage on the road for a three-week series of live broadcasts and community conversations in Wausau, La Crosse and Green Bay. Each tour stop will feature live Friday broadcasts of WPR's The Joy Cardin Show from 6-9 a.m. and WPT's Here and Now at 7:30 p.m. Two special community question and answer sessions with reporters and hosts from both organizations will also be held in each region Thursday evening and Friday midday, where listeners and viewers will be able to pose their questions around this year's state and national races and learn how to do their own fact checking on the races in their communities.
The special WisconsinVote.org events across Wisconsin will be held on the following Thursdays and Fridays leading up to the Nov. 8 election:
Oct. 20 and 21: Wausau – The Joy Cardin Show will broadcast at the 6th Street Filling Station and Here and Now will broadcast from Thrive Foodery. The Thursday evening "Meet the Media" event will be held from 5-7 p.m. at Thrive Foodery and the Friday event will be at noon at the Marathon County Library in Wausau.
Oct. 27 and 28: La Crosse – The Joy Cardin Show will broadcast at Hackberry's Bistro above the People's Food Co-op and Here and Now will broadcast from The Pearl Street Brewery. The locations for Thursday night "Meet the Media" sessions will be announced soon. The Friday event will be at noon at the La Crosse Public Library.
Nov. 3 and 4: Green Bay – Both The Joy Cardin Show and Here and Now will broadcast from The Attic. The Thursday evening "Meet the Media" event will be held from 5-7 p.m. at Titletown Brewing Co. and the Friday event will be at noon at the Green Bay Botanical Garden.
At each location, Cardin will feature local culture and political analysis in her first two hours and local guests from differing political perspectives will be spotlighted on the show's "Week in Review" segment. Here and Now will also feature in-depth analysis of the news and events of each week, along with local and regional perspectives from elected officials, candidates and community members.
Each of the "Meet the Media" events will feature opportunities for community members to interact with WPR and WPT journalists, including Shawn Johnson, Laurel White, Zac Schultz, Andy Soth, Cardin and regional reporters in each area. The events are free and open to the public. Full details are available online at WisconsinVote.org/events.
WisconsinVote.org is a partnership service of WPR and WPT that features voting resources, election information, candidate profiles and news about the election from both public broadcasters.
