These stories include that of UW-Madison's Chandler Davis in the new episode premiering 8 p.m. Monday, July 21 on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT). UW-Madison hadn't allowed boxing as a club sport for 54 years, but now, the tide is turning. That's thanks to Chandler Davis, who as a sophomore successfully petitioned the university to bring back boxing as a club sport. Now, the sport's getting ready for a re-launch. Practices are ongoing and Davis expects to have the first matches begin while he's still a student. To those who remember when UW-Madison had a strong and reputable boxing program, Davis' work is bringing things full circle.Tune into Wisconsin Life to learn how Davis is giving boxing a fighting chance. This episode of Wisconsin Life will also feature other stories from across the state, including a stargazer who built his own planetarium, and a hula hooper whose technique is on fire … literally. Wisconsin Life is a partnership project of Wisconsin Public Television and Wisconsin Public Radio.
