New Season of In Wisconsin Begins With Exploration of Toxic Waste Controversy

The first episode of the new season of In Wisconsin on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) features reports on a mysterious toxic waste hazard in Ashland, a clash between bear hunters and wolves, the 100th anniversary of "On, Wisconsin" and the beauty of St. Peter's Dome in Mellen. The newsmagazine, hosted by Patty Loew, airs at its new time, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7 on WPT and is available in high definition. WPT will present encores of the program at 10:30 the same evening and 10:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 10. Milwaukee's MPTV will air the program at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 10. In partnership with the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism, In Wisconsin Reporter Art Hackett explores the hazards and controversies surrounding toxic waste and its cleanup in Ashland.In Wisconsin Reporter JoAnne Garrett visits the Clam Lake area to uncover the ways bear hunting and the return of the grey wolf to its natural hunting grounds intersect.In Wisconsin Producer Chuck France and Loew uncover the lively history of the University of Wisconsin-Madison fight song, "On, Wisconsin" as the school enters Homecoming Week. And, In Wisconsin takes viewers on a trek to the 1,565-foot summit of St. Peter's Dome in Mellen to experience the beauty of Morgan Falls.
