Concerts on the Square's "Bursts of Joy" highlights patriotic, operatic favorites
The talented mother-daughter duo of Kitt and Alli Foss, both nationally acclaimed vocalists, lends a graceful air to an already exuberant program as the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra's concert series Concerts on the Square® returns to Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) 6 p.m. Saturday, July 9 with a performance titled "Bursts of Joy."
The concert, which will be filmed by WPT during the live July 6 performance on the grounds of Wisconsin's State Capitol Building, includes patriotic numbers such as Lowden's "Armed Forces Salute," as well as the traditional favorites "1812 Overture" and "Stars and Stripes Forever."
Mezzo-soprano Kitt Reuter-Foss, winner of the Metropolitan Opera's National Auditions, frequently shares the stage with daughter Alli, a soprano trained in musical theatre and now a Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter. Their operatic selections include Delibes' beloved "Flower Duet" from Lakmé, as well as Massenet's touching "Va! laisse couler mes larmes" from Werther.
"Bursts of Joy" will also stream simultaneously online at wpt.org during its WPT premiere.
WPT is a service of the Educational Communications Board and University of Wisconsin-Extension.
