Meet Rosie from Rosie’s Rules and enjoy a morning full of art with the whole family!

In collaboration with Madison College’s School of Business & Applied Arts and LOUD (Latinos Organizing for Understanding and Development), PBS Wisconsin is proud to help host a free KIDS Day at Madison College’s Truax Gallery!

Attendees can enjoy a morning filled with art, community and exploration – curated with the whole family in mind. This free event invites families to explore Las Curanderas, a powerful exhibition that celebrates and honors the work of Wisconsin-based Latina artists.

During the event, light refreshments will be provided, and families can also enjoy art-themed episodes of Rosie’s Rules and Alma’s Way!

And of course, make sure to stick around at 10:30 am, 11:00 am, or 11:30 am for an exclusive meet-and-greet with Rosie from Rosie’s Rules! Families will have the chance to say hello, snap a photo, and make a special memory with Rosie!

About Las Curanderas

Inspired by the lyrics of Natalia Lafourcade’s “María la Curandera” — “Que los queme el fuego, que los queme el fuego y vengan nuevas flores” (“Let the fire burn them, let the fire burn them, and may new flowers emerge”) — the exhibition explores fire as both a literal and metaphorical force of destruction, renewal, and rebirth. This exhibition centers Latinas as powerful healers and bearers of transformation. We are each beautifully unique and collectively powerful. Through art, we alchemize destruction into hope, grief into power, and ashes into bloom.

The exhibition is curated by Jessica M. Gutiérrez, a Nicaraguan-American watercolor and mixed media artist based in Madison, and Issis Macias, a Los Angeles–born abstract painter now based in Madison. Together, they envision the exhibition as both a sanctuary and a site of resistance, where healing, resilience, and collective power take form through art.

Las Curanderas will be exhibited at the Gallery at Truax from September 15 – October 15, 2026.
