My proudest moment of this bake was when my daughter told me it was the best cake she’d ever had! Coming from a girl whose mom LOVES to bake, I take that as a very serious compliment!
Describe how you added a Wisconsin twist to your creation.
I am so happy to be back baking along with some of Wisconsin’s finest bakers and enjoying one of my favorite baking shows! This summer will have some additional twists for me as I am going to do my best to include my children and niece and nephews in some aspect of every bake. This week we visited the U Pick strawberry farm in Deforest, Wisconsin, and while my one-year-old son ate more than he picked, his sisters and cousins picked up the slack and we had about four quarts of fresh-picked Wisconsin strawberries! So, I decided they would have to make an appearance in this week’s bake, and I’d say they did! In addition to my fresh Wisconsin-grown strawberries, I also utilized farm-fresh eggs from my local farmers’ market for the cake, and whipping cream from a local dairy farm. It was absolutely delicious and so fun to make! I only wish the strawberries would’ve held their shape better! I think I’ll add a little cornstarch next time.
