Picnic!

Give your creation a name based on the flavors and decoration – and tell us about your recipe.

Tailgate Picnic! This bake is dedicated to Wisconsin Sports! As we all know, Wisconsin just does sports better! Tailgating and supporting our teams is a way of life here. This Tailgate Picnic takes us on a tour of Wisconsin Sports starting with Jalapeño Cheddar Scones representing the Green Bay Packers! Next up is our Cherry & Vanilla Custard Tarts celebrating the great tradition of the University of Wisconsin Badgers! Followed by Button Mushroom & Spinach Quiche for our Milwaukee Bucks – Fear the Deer! And no Tailgate would be complete without Racing Sausage Puff Pastry Rolls celebrating the Milwaukee Brewers! FIVE different Sausage Rolls – Bratwurst, Polish, Italian, Hot Dog, and Chorizo! And of course the centerpiece! A VICTORY Celebration Cake! What fun it has been to bake and EAT all of this! On Wisconsin!

What was your favorite thing about The Great Wisconsin Baking challenge overall (whether you participated in one or all challenges)? What did you learn from this final challenge? What are you most proud of when it comes to your bake?

This final challenge, as well as the entire Baking Challenge, has been eye opening for me. I have long said that I am a pretty good cook – but not much of a baker. These last weeks have helped me to realize that I can start to master the art of baking if I just give it a shot! Everything I have made throughout this challenge has been made from scratch! CRAZY! I have enjoyed this entire challenge and have learned loads along the delicious way! I am so grateful I stumbled across this challenge! I have enjoyed seeing everyone’s amazing creations and baking along with all of you!

Did you incorporate three local ingredients into your Final creation? Tell us about your Wisconsin twist!

Along this entire journey I have done my best to use local ingredients whenever possible, from farm fresh eggs from our CSA or fresh herbs and vegetables from our garden, or choosing local products instead of big name brands while shopping at my local grocery store. In this bake I have used Klements Sausages, as well as spinach from my CSA, and jalapeños from my garden.

How did you do?

Rocked it.
