"Happy Birthday to My Husband" Apple Cinnamon Cake.
I never made a chiffon cake before, but it is similar to an angel food cake. I grated the apples so they were not chunky. I mixed the batter with the yolk and apples first and added the egg yolk meringue a little later. I baked for close to an hour. I put it upside down on a glass bottle to cool it off. I added caramel whipped frosting and decorations.
What was the biggest surprise during your baking journey? Did you use any unconventional approaches? What did you learn along the way? Tell us about it!
After slicing the cake, I noticed it came out in layers — a light and fluffy top layer, a middle layer with apples and the bottom layer. . . a little too thick. I think I needed to add flour to the apples to hold in the moisture.
How did you add a Wisconsin twist to your flavors or decoration?
Apples were from Oakwood fruit farm in Richland Center. Other ingredients were from Benders Store in Muscoda.
