Designer Fruit Tart
Give your tarts a name based on the flavors and decoration – and tell us about your recipe.
“State of the tArt” or “Mary’s Berries” features Wisconsin’s official state fruit: cranberries! I used a sweet tart crust recipe and an adapted cranberry-orange curd tart recipe from NY Times Cooking. I candied basil leaves from my rooftop garden and additional cranberries for the decoration.
Now that you survived this challenge, what words of wisdom do you have to share?
Enjoy it – it’ll go quickly! Also, make sure to add the eggs to the hot cranberry cooking liquid to temper them before adding them back into the pan. Also, use a tart pan so you don’t have to hand form the crust!
Tell us about how you added a Wisconsin twist.
I used frozen cranberries from Wisconsin to make this typically fall/winter dessert.
How did you do?
Pleasantly satisfied.
