Buttery Northwoods Apfelstrudel
What was the biggest surprise during your baking journey? Did you use any unconventional approaches? What did you learn along the way? Tell us about it!
My biggest surprise in preparing the apfelstrudel was how easy it was to stretch the dough. My instructions were to roll it out on a towel or tablecloth with a pattern…and roll and stretch until the pattern could be seen through the dough! It worked! I added apple brandy for a Northwoods touch. I learned that apple strudel doesn't seem to have any relationship to pudding…it is, however, delicious!
How did you add a Wisconsin twist to your flavors or decoration?
To add a Wisconsin flair, I named my creation for the Northwoods. I also used apples from our little orchard and honey from our apiary.
