I considered peach or cherry for a seasonal pie, or cranberry because I've got a LOT in the freezer, but I can whip out a custard pie in no time flat. Also reminds both of my late father and father-in-law who both loved custard pie.

Custard pie is the quintessential Wisconsin dairy farm dessert. Eggs and cream were always on hand.
