An animated short from the eighth season of Wisconsin Life has been accepted and will play at the 2023 Beloit International Film Festival (BIFF).
The animated short titled Las Chicas y Chicos de Blossom Street, brings to life the work of Madison poet Araceli Esparza. The animation provides a snapshot of a day in the life in a Latino neighborhood in Wisconsin. It explores community, family and what it means to be a neighbor. The piece was directed by PBS Wisconsin animator Steve Dorchester.
BIFF is a ten-day tribute to the power of film and the excitement of independent film from around the world. Local residents and visitors from across the nation fill venues, ranging in size from 40 to 400 seats for more than 100 films, and to meet scores of filmmakers who come from throughout the U.S. and as far away as Europe, Asia and Latin America.
The animated short will play at the film festival March 3 and March 4. For more information on the screenings, visit the BIFF website.
