Deb Piper, producer and manager of remote production, has worked in public broadcasting for 30 years – almost all of it right here at Wisconsin Public Television.
She’s particularly proud of the miles our crews have traveled throughout the state, capturing music in intriguing venues. One of them includes beautiful Madeline Island in Lake Superior, where WPT crew captured world-class chamber music from talented young artists. Music From Madeline Island premieres 8 p.m. Monday, June 10.

I love to travel when I can, so PBS nature and travel shows always give me new ideas to add to my bucket list. Madagascar is a three-part series about an island that’s definitely on that list.
Watch Madagascar: Lost Worlds 6 p.m. Sunday, June 9 and Madagascar: Heat and Dust 6 p.m. Sunday, June 16.
I’m a big music fan, crossing a lot of genres. I’m looking forward to The Kate, particularly Marc Cohn and the Blind Boys of Alabama.
Watch The Kate Sunday nights at midnight.
Other favorite music shows include Live From the Artists Den and Austin City Limits.
It’s an honor to collaborate with our top-notch production team. Music From Madeline Island is our most recent creation. With our 36-foot production truck and 18-person crew, I think the show really captures the spirit of chamber music and this island.
Take a behind the scenes look at how WPT traveled 330 miles, ferried a 20-ton production truck and captured live chamber music performances from talented young artists and world-renowned musicians, to create this special program.
Tune in 8 p.m. Monday, June 10 to watch the premiere on WPT, or stream it online now!
