About the Film

In this original PBS Wisconsin documentary, father and daughter authors Jerry Apps and Susan Apps-Bodilly reflect on holidays past, recalling Christmas pageants, family traditions, seasonal foods and gift-giving from Jerry’s rural Wisconsin childhood. Together, they share stories that capture the warmth of Wisconsin winters and the enduring traditions that connect generations.

Introduction and Q&A with the Producer

The screening will be introduced by the film’s producer, Mary Pokorney-Donelan, who will also host a Q&A following the film and share insights into the documentary’s creation and her longtime collaboration with the Apps family.

This special screening invites audiences to step into a world of memory, community and seasonal warmth through the voices of two beloved Wisconsin storytellers.

Before the Screening: An Afternoon with Susan Apps-Bodilly

Prior to the screening, from 1-3:30 p.m., Wade House will host a separate ticketed program featuring author Susan Apps-Bodilly. The event will include a book talk, food samples, crafts and a Q&A exploring the stories and traditions behind Old Farm Country Christmas, the book that inspired the film.
