As the Wisconsin State Capitol marks its centennial, Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) will premiere a new documentary on the history, architecture and cultural significance of the iconic statehouse. Our House: The Wisconsin Capitol premieres on WPT and Milwaukee PBS 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27. The program will have an encore presentation on WPT 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 and will be available to stream online at wpt.org shortly after the broadcast premiere.
For 100 years, the resplendent domed building in Madison has served as home for the state's three branches of government, but has also become one of the most extraordinary public spaces in Wisconsin.
Host Michael Bridgeman, who also hosted WPT's 2015 program, Remarkable Homes of Wisconsin, leads a tour through the history, architecture and beauty of this significant monument to democracy.
Viewers will discover the building's priceless art, travel through its hallowed corridors, learn some of the Capitol's secrets, and visit spaces that few visitors ever see.
All of Wisconsin shares this great Capitol. This is our legacy. This is our house.
