About

Wisconsin is home to researchers developing drought-resistant crops, Indigenous communities stewarding land and water for future generations, and young people reimagining what a sustainable future looks like. Health of Our Planet is a PBS Wisconsin and Wisconsin Public Radio streaming collection dedicated to the people, places and ideas at the center of our changing environment.

We bring together classroom media collections for educators, original PBS Wisconsin productions, WPR and PBS Wisconsin news reporting, and PBS programming about climate, ecosystems and the planet. Together, they form a picture of a planet in transition, focusing on stories that face hard truths but demonstrate how experts and everyday people are using facts and marshaling hope to ignite action.

Health of Our Planet launched in April 2026 as part of Wisconsin Public Media’s Earth Day initiative, and it reflects a broader goal of making environmental content a lasting, year-round resource for Wisconsin audiences. The collection is updated continuously throughout the year.

Wisconsin’s lakes, forests and farms, the air we breathe and the animals, plants and insects we live among are our shared heritage. We believe that staying curious, informed and alert is an important precursor to action. Whether you’re a lifelong environmentalist, a curious newcomer, a student or an educator looking for resources to bring into the classroom, this collection has something for you. Explore, share and come back often as we learn how we can protect our ecosystems and address our shared climate future together.
