Take your seat for a performance of works by one of France’s most acclaimed composers.

PBS Wisconsin invites you to take your seat for a broadcast of the final La Crosse Symphony Orchestra (LSO) concert of the 2024-25 season, recorded Saturday, May 3, in the sold-out Viterbo Fine Arts Center. The LSO’s performance of “Midnight in Paris” will air 8 p.m. Monday, July 21, on PBS Wisconsin, with an encore presentation 10 p.m. Thursday, July 24. Learn more at pbswisconsin.org/lacrosse-symphony.

Music from the performance will also air on Wisconsin Public Radio at a future date. Details will be announced at wpr.org.

Under the baton of music director Alexander Platt, the one-hour program celebrates the 150th anniversary of French composer and pianist Maurice Ravel’s birth and features world-renowned violinist Rachel Barton Pine performing selections from Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D Major.

The full Brahms Concerto, as well as extended interviews with Barton Pine, Platt and LSO Executive Director Eva Marie Restel, will be available online at pbswisconsin.org/lacrosse-symphony beginning July 21.

Boasting a rich tradition dating back to 1898, the LSO has forged a reputation as one of the premier regional orchestras in the upper Midwest and has continued to grow in popularity, particularly since the arrival of Maestro Platt in 2010.

PBS Wisconsin’s first-ever collaboration with the LSO will offer viewers a glimpse inside this storied institution and its connection to and importance within the community of La Crosse.
