Deanna Springer is the Marketing Director at Nancy Zieman Productions, which, along with Wisconsin Public Television, presents the annual Quilt Expo in Madison. Ahead of this year’s Quilt Expo, Sept. 7-9, we caught up with Deanna to learn about her top public television picks.
What are your favorite PBS shows, and why?
We enjoy so many shows on PBS! NOVA and Nature are go-to’s for sure. When my husband Dennis has the remote, he’ll turn to This Old House, Antiques Roadshow and Around the Corner With John McGivern.
I have fond memories of Dennis and our daughter, Teri, watching The Woodright’s Shop, Sesame Street, Bob Ross and Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood. Now, Teri is all grown up and loves all things art! She went on to a fine arts college and is now an incredible designer and artist.
Let’s face it. We’re a PBS family! Each month, when Airwaves arrives, we make plans for date nights on the couch. In August, we enjoyed watching Pepper’s Musical Revolution. Public television’s productions are truly amazing!
What are your must-watch local WPT shows?
When it comes to WPT’s local programming, in addition to Sewing With Nancy (of course!) we enjoy watching University Place, Around the Farm Table and 30-Minute Music Hour, and all of the Wisconsin-centric specials like Tribal Histories and Wisconsin from the Air!
What’s your favorite thing about public television, or WPT specifically?
Wisconsin Public Television’s commitment to enriching lives and supporting community – all while preserving our state’s diverse history – aligns with our personal family values. And it is richly entertaining, too. What more could you ask for? I’m proud to be a WPT donor and supporter.
WPT partners with Nancy Zieman Productions to host Quilt Expo each year. What are you most looking forward to at Quilt Expo 2017 and why?
I look forward to Quilt Expo each fall! I so enjoy meeting and greeting attendees, quilters, faculty members, vendors and volunteers. I’m thrilled to connect with friends – that I make and see once a year – at Quilt Expo all while viewing the spectacular quilt displays, perusing the vendor mall and checking in on the educational offerings.
Much like a family reunion, Quilt Expo is an energetic gathering with everyone tied together by a common thread – our love and appreciation for quilting and Wisconsin Public Television!
