Baking Challenge
Star Baker
What was the most difficult challenge that you faced during any bake? And how did you overcome it?
Time was always the most difficult challenge. I’ve had a crazy-busy summer with three jobs, and an eclipse trip in the midst of things. I was always up against the clock. Some weeks I was just glad to have any sort of bake accomplished.
Which Wisconsin twist were you most proud of, and why?
The jumbles were my favorite Wisconsin twist. I thought A LOT about that bake. I enjoyed trying to make it work using the most ingredients I could possibly manage from our one acre of property.
If you were to draft a baking challenge for Wisconsin bakers, what would you like them all to make? And what would you be looking for if you were the judge?
Create a traditional afternoon tea (scones, finger sandwiches, desserts). Then as an added twist, serve your tea to a friend or two you haven’t gotten together with in a while. Use it as an occasion to make the "let’s get together SOMETIME" be "Let’s get together for tea and a visit at my place on Wednesday." I’d be looking for fun food, and reports from the visits people have with friends. I think I’d be a pretty easy-going judge. I’d be closer to a Mary than a Paul.
How did you do?
I participated in all 10 Great Wisconsin Baking challenges this summer – I’m a Star Baker!
