Little House in the Big Woods – My gingerbread cabin is made with gingerbread walls held together with royal icing and covered with pretzel logs. It has poured sugar windows, chocolate rocks for the chimney and walkway, graham cereal shingles, pretzel fence and powdered sugar snow. I even made gingerbread pine trees and I put a light inside the cabin.
Would you describe yourself as a rogue baker, or do you strictly adhere to the recipe?
I strictly adhere to the recipe.
Tell us about how you added a Wisconsin twist to your creation.
My gingerbread cabin was inspired by Wisconsinite Laura Ingalls Wilder. “Once upon a time, a little girl named Laura lived in the Big Woods of Wisconsin in a little house made of logs." I wanted to portray her cabin after the first snowfall of the season. You can even see gingerbread Laura standing outside of the cabin.
How did you do?
Absolutely lovely.
